As promised, I wanted to discuss some of the nitty gritty details about our Moon Palace trip. I'm going to share six (6) scenarios, and I'd love to know how you'd have dealt with any or all of the situations.
Fun Fact: Scenarios 1-5 of the following transpired within the first 6 hours of arriving...
Scenario 1: Neither the Security at the gate (Checkpoint 1) nor the Bellhop at the Bag Counter (Checkpoint 2) could locate my reservation that I had made WEEKS in advance. Ended up waiting ~ 15 minutes at the gate while the Security assumed that I incorrectly made the booking and while other cars drove past, unbothered.
Scenario 2: Finally made it inside the Lobby, only for it to be easily mistaken as an international airport due to the sheer number of people and long check-in lines. During a supposed pandemic. Plus God bless how many guests were wearing masks. or wearing them properly
Scenario 3: After waiting more than two hours for our room, we were sent NOT escorted with half a**ed directions to the ready room by a bell hop only to find a double occupancy room (2 beds) when we had booked a King bed. Did I mention that we were sent? unaccompanied? and without our bags?
Scenario 4: [At this point I'm very upset] I reach out to a Manager, who in trying to calm me down actually added fuel to the fire by a) suggesting to my husband to take me to the bar for rum to help me calm down and b) saying that I WILL relax and enjoy my stay and not just TRY. While I assume it was a sincere effort to appease the situation, I found it in poor taste as I'd rather not be told what to do in such a highly emotional state.
Scenario 5: After TWO more hours of waiting, we get the call that our ACTUAL room (King bed) is ready, then we wait another 30 minutes for a bell hop to come and trnasfer our bags (we were told 10 minutes). We get to the new room (on the 10th floor) only to realise that our room keys (wristband) were not reprogrammed and we have to go back to check-in and wait...again.
Scenario 6: Went to the pool bar and grill area, saw guests doing self serve (red flag #1). Asked a staff server for jerk chicken and fries and the server returns a few minutes later with a jerk chicken wrap. On expressing that the order was incorrect, the server proceeds to explain that there's no jerk chicken on the property [once you realise the jig, don't think about it too hard]. So instead of returning with that information, the server decided to bring me an alternative I didn't ask for.
I could go on...but I'll spare you, I think you catch even a quarter of the drift 😉. Just to add that I made a lot of noise in that place to ensure that my displeasure was felt. Public Relations appeased me with a bottle of champagne, a card and an incovenience dinner. Yes, that's actually what they called it 😐
😧😮😲……inconvenience dinner?🤣 I honestly do not know what I would have done. I tend to want cancellations and refunds these days enuh….just done it.
